Back in April I applied for a grant to implement technology into the classroom, and I got it! $1500...how great is that!? With that money I purchased two Ipads and will using the rest of it for apps, ebooks, and something cool to use with my Mimio (turns my regular marker board into a SMART board) that the school also purchased.
I think technology in the classroom is not only great in helping students learn, but is also a great incentive. What student doesn't want to do their work for a chance to play an educational game on the Ipad?!
Since I want technology to be a bigger part of my classroom, I will be implementing social media with our daily activities. I have a twitter account to update good news and classroom happenings (follow me @bakersblessings). I will also soon be creating a "Miss Baker" facebook page. This will allow students to stay connected to me in a safe way. Social media is so neat if used in the proper way. I not only want to stay up to date on what is happening in my students' lives outside of school, but I believe it's important to know more about their teacher than just who they are in the classroom.
If you have any ideas on how ways to implement technology in my classroom please leave a comment below. I'm always open to new and inventive ways to be the best teacher I possibly can be...my students deserve that.
